Dental Access: You Can Help!
Whatcom Project Access Dental (WPAD)
WPAD is a new partnership between the MBDDS and the Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access (WAHA) . The program links uninsured, low-income adults needing restorative dental care with dentists who volunteer to treat patients in their office. Participating dentists decide the number of patients they are able to serve, seeing as many – or as few – as they like per month.
WAHA screens patients for financial eligibility, schedules initial appointments with donating dentists on a rotating basis, and provides care coordination for patients to assure appropriate use of dental services. Patients are required to complete an application and pay a program fee of $0-$30 to help cover program costs.
For more information, please contact Lara Welker, WAHA program manager, at (360) 788-6588 or lrwelker@hinet.org
Donated Adult Dental (DAD)
The DAD program is an ongoing partnership between MBDDS and Interfaith Community Health Center. Dentists volunteer their time serving patients at DAD clinics on the third Friday and Saturday of each month from 9 am– 1pm at the Interfaith dental clinic in Bellingham. Interfaith schedules the appointments and provides dentists, equipment, supplies, dental assistants, and reception staffing.
