Wynne introduced Don Pratten who is a new associate at his endodontic
office. Don has been in practice for a
number of years and recently sailed single handed to New Zealand.

Smith announced that she and Tara Schmidt will be out on maternity leave soon
and some of their staff will be available to fill in at other offices if

c. Bobby
Kylsea from the Skagit County Community Action agency gave a brief appeal for
volunteers for the Dental Van. The Van
serves low income adults and needs volunteers Mon – Fri, .

for $2,000 donation to the Skagit Children’s Museum for Children’s Dental
Health Month was voted on and approved by membership

approved by membership

Dental Action Day – January 29th, Olympia
a. Derek Damon has volunteered to drive a 7 person van
down. Contact Derek to arrange a ride.

gave a presentation on the NW Precedent – a Practice Based Research
Collaborative in Evidence-based Dentistry.

NW Precedent covers Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Arizona
ii.
Operated jointly by UW and OHSU
iii.
Principles of Practice-Based Research
1. Identify
topics of interest to practitioners
2. Design
studies that are straightforward w/ simple clinical endpoints
3. Carry
out studies with minimal interference to everyday practice
4. Evaluate
the clinical effectiveness of technique/material
iv.
Currently 332 active members, 190 of are fully trained
and can enroll patients in their offices
v.
Members can pick and choose which studies they want to
be involved in.

All practitioners interested in research are encouraged
to join
