b. Discussed the WPAD program (Whatcom Project Access Dental). This program links uninsured adults with a restorative need with a donating dentist; not preventive or emergent. WAHA screens the patients and schedules with a donating dentist. The dentist generates a treatment plan and can donate as much treatment as they are comfortable. If a patient needs services beyond what a dentist will provide, the patient should be referred back to WAHA. Currently there are 17 dentists in Whatcom County signed up and 40 patients have been treated. WAHA is partnering with the Life Enhancement Charitable Trust (LECT) from Seattle to assist with some lab fees. WAHA will assist the patient in applying for LECT funds. 2 handouts were given; one discussing the eligibility requirements of the patient and participation form. They are looking for a periodontist, endodontist and oral surgeon to sign up as well. If you are interested in signing up please contact Lara Welker at 788-6588 or lrwelker@hinet.org.

1. Bellingham – Fred Meyers on Lakeway Exit.
THE BUS WILL BE LEAVING BELLINGHAM AT 3:15AM
2. Burlington - Haggen’s Parking lot. The SE corner (away from the store and opposite side from Krispy Kreme).
3. The bus will be leaving Olympia at around 3PM.
ii. New Location! Due to the increasing number of dentists who are attending Dental Action Day, we are no longer able to meet in any meeting room on the Capitol Campus. As a result, we are moving Dental Action Day out into a heated tent by Tivoli Fountain (northeast of the Legislative Building between the parking diagonals).
· CE session on Health Care Reform. WSDA is teaming up with the Health Care Authority to discuss the implementation of the affordable care act and how it will impact dentistry. The session will last about 50 minutes and can be counted as one hour of CE.
· FREE Scarves. DentPAC will be giving all participants a free “One Profession, One Voice” scarf the morning of DAD. That way you will be able to walk to your appointments in style.
· Advocacy Groups. In order to increase collaboration among participants, we have created 20 advocacy groups that are each made up of 2-4 legislative districts. About a week before DAD, participants will receive an email with their group assignment, a list of fellow group members, and a group specific web page that will list the group’s legislative appointments. This will allow advocacy groups a few days to talk and strategize before DAD.
· Issues Webinar. WSDA will host an optional webinar for all participants on Friday, January 20 at noon to talk about the policy issues we will be advocating at DAD. RSVP for the Webinar here: https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/483429614
· Grassroots Advocacy 101 Webinar. It’s not too late to view the Grassroots Advocacy 101 webinar from December. The 30 minute webinar can be found here: http://www.wsda.org/grassroots-advocacy-webinar/
Dental Action Day registration packets (for everyone but UW dental students) will be mailed out one week from today so you should receive your packet Monday, January 23.
